Wells Maltings Update

Visual of Staithe Street Proposed Elevation

RHP completed a detailed feasibility study, masterplan and business case in conjunction with MPCS earlier this year for the restoration, refurbishment and extension of the Grade II listed Maltings in Wells-next-the-Sea to provide a new community arts centre.

The project is moving forward, the key stakeholders have formed the Wells Maltings Trust to develop local interest and promote use of the existing facilities within the Maltings.  The Trust have agreed a 99 year lease with North Norfolk District Council for the buildings and a full time fundraiser, Becky Jefcoate started on the 1 Nov to drive the project forward, we wish her well and offer our continued support to this exciting community project.

The development, located at the heart of the community, on the main shopping street in the town will be an exemplar of sustainable development, designed to minimise its carbon footprint during construction and operation.  The target for the new build element of the works is BREEAM Outstanding.
