Constructed
using cross laminated timber and wrapped with high levels of thermal
insulation, and designed to be ‘zero carbon’ in use, it will be one of the most
sustainable buildings in Cambridgeshire. Power is generated by a large
array of photovoltaic panels, and heating is provided by a biomass boiler which
also powers nearby research glasshouses.
