RHP BIM Update

Over recent years our studios have undertaken a gradual introduction and training programme to develop our BIM (based on AutoDesk Revit 3D parametric modelling) strategy within the practice.
This reflects our general commitment to the continual improvement of our systems and service, and recognises current best practice and future trends.

Building Information Modelling (BIM) has its roots in the mid 1980s, it has however only recently risen in popularity within the Architectural and Engineering professions in relation to the construction industry. It has the potential to provide added value to teamworking, coordination and communication between project teams, contractors, clients and end users.

Initial evaluation studies indicate that the creation of a 3D model with associated information can reduce errors in design, improve design quality, shorten construction time, and significantly reduce construction costs.

Our resource of formally trained architects and technicians, led by our in-house IT manager is steadily increasing.  Our adoption plan anticipates 80% of our work being produced on a BIM platform within 3 years, expanding as suitable new projects are secured.  We provide basic familiarisation training to all staff, but detailed training is linked to specific project application to ensure learning is reinforced by being put into practice immediately.
